A few things we’re great at
It’s our 125th Birthday this year!!! If we’ve survived this long we must be doing something right!
Keep your eyes and ears open for our celebration events throughout the year!
Who Are We?
Crystal Palace Band (CPB) is one of the few traditional Brass Bands remaining in London. It consists of between twenty and thirty musicians and plays at a variety of events, including open-air concerts at Royal Parks and at the seaside, fetes, carol concerts, parades, brass band contests, parties and indoor concerts.
A Brief History
Crystal Palace Band was founded as the Upper Norwood Temperance Prize Band by the Upper Norwood Temperance Society in 1901, and lived up to its name in its first year by securing prizes at all three contests it entered. Over time it became closely linked with the Crystal Palace and played there for many years.
Our MD – Jim Lynch
We’re incredibly fortunate to have the extremely talented Jim Lynch as our MD – We are expecting the band to grow in strength and ability as the years progress and with Jim at the helm, this is certain to happen.
In case you are interested, you’ll have heard Jim play his trumpet – he’s the BBC One Show signature tune trumpet (It’s greeeat…), the Antique Road Show signature tune Trumpet (You’ll certainly know that one!) and had a Number 3 hit in the UK charts with “Would You” (and you should know that one – it’s a banger).
