The celebrations continued this weekend as the band was invited to play at the wedding of our Bb Bass player Liam and his wife Kim at The Old Kent Barn at Smersole Farm. Although Liam was a little too busy to play with us, we were pleased to see he still found a way to include his tuba in the festivities!
The band broke out the romance with For Your Eyes Only, made famous by Sheena Easton, and My Cherie Amour by Stevie Wonder, as well as music by Craig Armstrong from the film Love Actually, arranged for the band by MD Jim Lynch. We enjoyed mixing in some upbeat marches with well loved brass band classics and found an appreciative audience in the wedding guests who applauded, cheered, sang and even danced to our final number, Sway.
We were delighted to welcome back former members of the band Rachael and Roger Bleach, playing with us for the day. Rachael now plays with Betteshanger Brass Band who last week won first place in the Third Section of the London and Southern Counties Area contest.
It was wonderful to be part of such a joyful occasion and our thanks go to Kim and Liam for including the band in their special day. We wish them every happiness as Mr and Mrs James!
